Don’t Let Life Overwhelm You – Do This Instead

Sometimes, life can be a pain in the ass…

“Sometimes? Are you kidding me – for me, it’s most of the time!”

Well, you’re just overwhelmed.

Drink a glass of water, chill.

It makes sense that life can be hard, in some ways you are correct, it’s definitely not an easy journey – it has a lot of pain, and suffering, and tragedy involved in it. BUT – the smarter you are about this thing called “life” – the less panic you get when truly hard things come at your way.

If you’re young, let’s say – before 25, and you are less capable of recovering quickly from hard situations, mentally or emotionally – don’t worry!

The older you get, the more experienced you are.

The more experienced you are – the better you are at recovering from hard situations.

Sometimes, life seems like a black hole.

What If I can tell you that all you have to do is one simple thing.

Just don’t be overwhelmed.

The rest will follow, trust me.

All your job is to keep telling yourself: “I am not letting life overwhelm me anymore, I am in control, everything is fine”

By not letting life overwhelm you-you are in control.

All you need is a sense of control. When you have a sense of control over your life – even the worst kind of shit that happens seems more manageable.

The moment you take control – stress levels go down, clarity increases and you instantly become more creative, thus more likely to find a proper solution.

“Are you telling me that all I have to do is constantly remind myself to not let life overwhelm me and that’s it? is that your solution?”

Yes.

You don’t need magic pills.

Don’t be reactive!

By definition, as living beings, humans are designed to react to stimulus. But it’s not the kind of reactiveness I am talking about.

I am talking about recovering from “life’s attempts” to shake your inner world.

Be strong, say: “What’s in my control – in my control, what’s not in my control – there’s no reason to bother anyway, since it would have happened regardless of my actions”

I know what you’re thinking to yourself right now…

“Easy for you to say”, or “Easy to say, hard to do”

Well, all I have to say back to people who had this thought in their mind – you completely misunderstood my point.

If someone truly understands this point – there’s no reason to think “It’s hard to apply”

What’s hard here? I would say the opposite – life is MUCH harder when you give a damn fuck about anything around you.

The less you care – the easy life becomes.

As simple as that.

This urge exists, no doubt. However, you can easily resist it simply by internalizing two important statements:

  1. No matter what you are going to do – life goes on
  2. No matter what has happened – if you are in “control”, aka didn’t let life overwhelm you – you did your best and “it is what it is” (Kind of a relief to look at this that way, isn’t it?)

Sometimes, you must take life less seriously.

(If you want to keep your mental state in check)

Seriously, practice “not giving a fuck” in every opportunity you have to do so.

Counter-intuitively, being reactive making your life much harder, NOT easier. Think about it, how easier life will be if you won’t be concerned about little details that have no real meaning for you?

Learn to say: “It doesn’t matter”

“Oh..”

“It is what it is”

It can be whatever you want – you can even incorporate humor if it soften hard situations for you – whatever works for you! Just make sure you do your job…

and do you remember what your job is?

To not be overwhelmed.

That’s your job.

The rest will quite magically follow – you will be wiser, stronger, more capable of recovery from shit that will always happen – regardless of your efforts to prevent it.

Don’t try to focus on “what matters”, instead – just focus on not being reactive, on not being overwhelmed.

The rest will follow!
